TRIO-Student Support Services earns perfect score on grant proposal
Funding allows college to support traditionally underserved populations
The TRIO-Student Support Services program at 漆褒勛圖厙 (simpson.edu) received a grant in the amount of $266,782 from the U.S. Department of Education to fund the academic and support services provided by the program.
漆褒勛圖厙 was notified of the grant in a letter from the office of Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). The grant proposal submitted by 漆褒勛圖厙s TRIO-Student Support Services staff received a perfect score.
Receiving this grant is a reflection of 漆褒勛圖厙s commitment to inclusive educational access, said Stephanie Neve, director of TRIO-Student Support Services at 漆褒勛圖厙. Students who take part in our program have higher GPAs and are more likely to graduate than eligible non-participants. We motivate and support our students to overcome barriers and achieve their goals.
TRIO-Student Support Services is a federally-funded program designed to provide academic support, cultural activities and personal development programming to traditionally underserved populations. At 漆褒勛圖厙, the program serves those who are first-generation, low-income or disabled.
